It’s starting to become a tradition at TMS for the Aussies attending to get together and have a meal. And so it was last night.
The first challenge was to find a restaurant that would take our booking. Being a Saturday night, the night before Valentine’s Day and with so many TMS people in town, most places were booked solid. But we finally got a booking for an 8pm dinner.
We met at Palm restaurant, which is nestled snugly into the side of the Hilton Hotel, and was quite central to all of us. We started as a booking of 8 people, but were able to find room for one more.
Needless to say, with a bunch of Australian middle aged males getting together, the conversation soon turned to cricket and politics. Sergey had strong views on the recent performance of the Australian cricket team against India. Samuel was right up to speed on the latest reshuffle of the government ministry and the performance of the new Prime Minister. And we all had opinions on the state of politics in the USA.
In between courses, there were a few juicy tidbits of gossip, but hey, we were off duty and relaxing. The TMS parade of walking from hotel to hotel meeting people on the hour every hour will start today, so what better way to prepare for it that a few beers and some excellent but very expensive wines.
Quick quiz, for no prize except the sense of pride that you know so many Australians - how many of the people in the photo can you name? (Hint - at least one of them is not Aussie)
